Co-Founder and Chief Customer Officer at VizVet
As Chief Customer Officer, Ethan owns the VizVet experience from the day a practice signs on. He leads onboarding and account mapping, runs ongoing support, billing and renewals, and maintains relationships with the consultants and groups VizVet partners with. Additionally, with over 20 years of experience creating veterinary management reports, he builds on customer feedback and adds to VizVet's recurring client reporting including:
- monthly data-quality reviews
- quarterly practice analysis
- semi-annual group reports designed to support facilitated peer discussions
Every conversation with a customer feeds back into the product. He loves working with independent owners because he grew up in an independent practice, and he knows what the numbers mean on the other side of the exam room door.
Financial services
In financial services, he did due diligence on potential investments at Equity Partners, a mid-market private equity firm in Australia and New Zealand. He performed internal process analysis with Ernst & Young's Transaction Advisory Services in Bangalore, and did market research at FactSet in Hong Kong and at Market Metrics in Boston. That work showed him how investors value practices, and why independent owners need clear, comparable numbers to compete with corporate-backed groups.
Hands-on IT and education
He spent more than a decade doing hands-on IT for veterinary hospitals: running cabling, installing switches, deploying workstations, configuring networks and keeping PIMS software current. He also spent four years in IT support at Boston University, where he earned a BSBA (Honors) in Management Information Systems as well as Operations and Technology Management, with a minor in Economics.
How VizVet started
VizVet began as Ethan's attempt to automate his own monthly and quarterly reporting. He evaluated tools from SPSS and Crystal Reports to Tableau, then built the first process on Power BI and the Microsoft stack. After a period of part-time feasibility work, VizVet officially launched in June 2022.
